The Sun arrived, after a recent conjunction with Saturn, in the sign of Pisces, as a prelude for Saturn who will soon be coming into Pisces for the next two years.

Pisces is, what we call, a 'double bodied' sign. The traditional symbol of Pisces shows two fishes who are going in opposite directions, but are linked through a thread around their tail. This means that Pisces can go in several directions at once, but still be linked. Think about swarms - or schools of fishes - moving as one body even though they are a multitude.

What is a Pisces like? According to the astrologer Vettius Valens (2nd-century), Pisces is 'in conflict with
itself because one Fish is northern, the other southern.' This is a good description of the last part of winter where we are at right now, when there is a strange blend between coldness and the first signs of spring.

Vissen is, wat we noemen, een 'double bodied' teken. Het traditionele symbool van Vissen toont twee vissen die in tegengestelde richting zwemmen, maar aan elkaar verbonden zijn via een draad rond hun staart. Dit betekent dat Vissen in meerdere richtingen tegelijk kunnen gaan, die toch gelinkt zijn. Denk aan zwermen, of scholen vissen, die zich als één lichaam voortbewegen, ook al bestaan ze uit velen.

Hoe gedraagt Vissen zich? Volgens de astroloog Vettius Valens (2e eeuw) is Vissen 'in conflict met
zichzelf omdat de ene Vis noordelijk is, de andere zuidelijk.' Dit is een mooie beschrijving van Vissen als het laatste winterteken, waarin de kilte worstelt met de eerste zachte tekenen van lente.
